Sheldon graduated from Southwest Baptist University with a bachelor's degree in finance and economics, as did his wife, Courtney. They enjoy walking around the campus with their sons, Jackson and Isaac. They also love to travel to national parks and play music with friends. Sheldon is a member of the Southwest Baptist University College of Business and Computer Science Advisory Board and also serves as treasurer at First Baptist Church of Dadeville.
